Nationals’ Jordan Zimmerman Tosses No-Hitter
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Jordan Zimmerman tossed a no-hitter in the Nationals 1-0 win over the Marlins on Sunday.
Zimmerman became the fifth pitcher in MLB history to pitch a no-hitter on the last day of the regular season.
This is the second year in a row the unique feat has happened after Henderson Alverez of the Marlins threw nine hitless innings against the Detroit Tigers.
The final out occurred in dramatic fashion as Christian Yelich smashed a ball to deep left center. Nationals left fielder Steven Souza tracked the ball perfectly through the air, dove for the ball and raised his hands in triumph as he came up with the game-ending catch.
The Nationals will host the winner of the Pirates/Giants wild card playoff game, which will take place on Wednesday.
