Piers Morgan Officially Out at CNN
Published at(NEW YORK) — Piers Morgan is leaving CNN. The former America’s Got Talent judge, who had hosted a primetime interview show on CNN before signing off earlier this year, revealed the news via Twitter.
“BREAKING NEWS: I am no longer a @CNN employee,” Morgan tweeted. He continued, “I was offered a new 2-year deal by @CNN boss Jeff Zucker to host 40 big interview ‘specials.’ But after considerable thought, I decided not to accept it – and to try pastures new.”
Morgan added, “I had a fantastic time in my 4 years @CNN and have huge respect for Jeff & all the people who work there. Great company, great network.”
He followed up by tweeting, “If I’m to be remembered for anything @CNN – I’d like it to be this,” and tweeted a link to a past segment from his show where he debated a man who wanted to have Morgan, a Brit, deported for his strong position on gun control.
Morgan’s show replaced Larry King Live in January of 2011. CNN announced in February that it was canceling the show.
