ABC announced Thursday that actress Rosie Perez and author and political analyst Nicolle Wallace will be joining Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell as co-hosts for the new season of The View.

“I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I’ve been asked to join The View,” said Perez in a statement. “Knowing that I’ll be in the company of Whoopi, Rosie and Nicolle, three very smart and engaging women that I have an immense amount of respect for, makes it even more unbelievable. The opportunity to connect with our nation’s audience on a daily basis…icing on the cake! Very happy.”

Wallace said in a statement that she is “honored to join the tradition of compelling conversations that has been the signature of The View for the better part of two decades.”

“I have watched The View for many years and now to be seated alongside three women that I have admired is both humbling and incredibly exciting,” Wallace added.

Wallace served as communications chief for George W. Bush’s White House and re-election campaign and senior advisor for the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008.

“These are powerful and accomplished women from different walks of life who have had amazing personal and professional experiences. Each brings incredible perspective and information to the table,”said Bill Wolff, executive producer. “This mix of smart, vibrant and energetic women is unlike anything else on daytime television.”

Whoopi Goldberg is the only current host returning for season 18 following the retirement of Barbara Walters and the departure of Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd.

The View announced in July that Rosie O’Donnell will return to the show, after leaving in 2007.

The daytime talk show announced earlier this month that it has moved to a new studio, which will now be in the round. The new set will allow the hosts to interact more with audience members as well as with viewers at social media stations.

The new season of The View premieres live on Monday, September 15.
