Royal Bank of Scotland Could Move Headquarters to London
Published at | Updated at(GLASGOW, Scotland) — The Royal Bank of Scotland Group confirmed on Thursday that if the upcoming referendum on Scottish independence passes, they will relocate their headquarters to London.
The bank says that it would “re-domicile the Bank’s holding company and its primary rated operating entity” in order to “provide clarity to all our stakeholders and mitigate risks.” The bank says the move would have no impact on its customers, as Scotland would remain part of the United Kingdom for at least 18 months following a “yes” vote.
The bank has been headquartered in Scotland since 1727 and “intends to retain a significant level of its operations and employment in Scotland” even if a move is undertaken.
