Snake River Flows Reduced

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – Snake River water flows were cut in half earlier this week. Local News 8 reports that the Bureau of Reclamation reduced water flows out of the Palisades Dam in an effort to store more irrigation water in the reservoir.

Officials say wet weather in August mostly eliminated the need for agricultural irrigation in eastern Idaho, but once things started to dry out, farmers still needed more water to finish growing crops for this year’s harvest.

Flows were expected to increase another 300 cubic feet per second by Tuesday evening.
