Teacher Retires Over Inappropriate Texts

(SANDPOINT, ID) – A northern Idaho teacher has retired after he send inappropriate text messages to a student. Rod Swerin spent 17 years at Sandpoint Middle School.
Administrators say Swerin’s texts were of a sexual nature, describing them as “disturbing,” but not enough to constitute any criminal activity. Investigators say the texts involved Swerin elaborating on a dream he’d had, where he saw an unclothed middle schooler.
He won’t be allowed to return to teach in the Lake Pend Oreille School District.
