The White Sox swept a doubleheader with the Minnesota Twins at home, winning Game 1, 5-1, before a walk-off homer in Game 2 notched a 7-6 victory.

Jose Quintana paced the White Sox (68-80) in the opener with 13 strikeouts while Alexei Ramirez homered in the third to open the scoring. His 15th long ball of the year gave Chicago a 2-0 lead in the third inning before the team tacked on three more in the eighth. Meanwhile, Quintana (8-10) walked just two batters in seven innings of work.

The nightcap was a little more stressful for the White Sox as Minnesota (62-86) opened up a 4-0 lead in the first inning. After Trevoe Plouffe’s RBI single started the scoring, Oswaldo Arcia slammed a three-run shot off Logan Darnell.

Chicago did battle back though, Avisail Garcia’s three-run blast in the bottom of the first made it a one run game before rookie Jose Abreu tied things up with his 34th homer of the year. The White Sox rallied again in the seventh, tying the game on a Conor Gillaspie single, before the Twins took the lead in the ninth.

Kurt Suzuki doubled off Jake Petricka to give Minnesota a 6-5 lead, and seemingly the win. However, Abreu worked a 15-pitch walk from closer Glen Perkins, starting a rally. Pinch runner Jordan Danks was retired on a fielder’s choice from Garcia, but Dayan Vicideo launched a walk-off, two-run homer to left for the victory.

Chicago has now won four straight games for just the second time all season, the first since May 4-7.
