The 20th ranked Buckeyes defeated Maryland 52-24 and Barrett was the catalyst for the offense.

The freshman quarterback completed 18 of 23 passes for 267 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also carried the ball 16 times for 71 yards while also scoring a touchdown.

“It’s 50-50 when you go on the road for a noon game,” Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said. “Sometimes it’s the middle of the first quarter before they wake up and that other team jumps on you. All of a sudden, it’s 7-0 and you’re playing uphill the entire game. We went nuts this week with that. Our coaching staff, I was grinding them pretty hard Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday about a fast start.”

Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott had a memorable game as well. Against Maryland he carried the ball 24 times for 139 yards.

With the win, Ohio State improved to 4-1 while Maryland fell to 4-2.
