On Saturday, the 25th ranked Horned Frogs won their conference opener, beating number four Oklahoma 37-33 at home.

Quarterback Trevone Boykin racked up 395 total yards of offense against the Sooners (4-1), throwing for 318 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Meanwhile, the TCU (4-0) defense forced three turnovers in the game and intercepted Trevor Knight twice.

The Horned Frogs jumped out to an early 14-0 lead, but Oklahoma rallied to tie the game after one quarter. Both squads traded scores in the second quarter with Michael Hunnicutt hit a 24-yard field goal to tie the game at 24-24 as the first half ended.

Oklahoma took their first, and only, lead of the game in the third quarter when Samaje Perine run in from seven yards out for a 31-24 advantage. That was quickly erased by TCU’s Deante Gray, who caught a 29-yard pass from Boykin less than three minutes later. The Horned Frogs took the lead for good when Paul Dawson returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown, making it a 37-31 ballgame.

The Sooners picked up two points when they blocked the extra point and returned it to the end zone, but they would be unable to avoid the upset. It’s the first time since 2005, over then-number 5 Oklahoma, that TCU pulled off the win over the Sooners.
