“Days of Our Lives” Actor and Girlfriend Injured in Car Crash

Paul Drinkwater/NBC(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) — Days of Our Lives actor Freddie Smith and his girlfriend were involved in a serious car accident early Tuesday morning in Ohio, according to TheWrap.
Smith, who plays Sonny Kiriakis on the NBC soap opera, was treated for minor injuries. His actress girlfriend Alyssa Tabit, who was in the passenger seat, suffered more extensive injuries.
Tabit’s team released a statement Wednesday night saying she is in “critically stable” condition at the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at St. Elisabeth Heath Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
The accident occurred on State Route 84 when Smith’s 2009 Mazda 6 lost control while negotiating a curve. The vehicle struck a culvert and flipped end over end before coming to a rest. The Wrap cites a police report that states “speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash,” which “remains under investigation.”
