French Author Patrick Modiano Wins Nobel Prize in Literature
Published at(STOCKHOLM) — This year’s Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to French author Patrick Modiano on Thursday.
Modiano won the prize “for the art of memory with which he has evoked the most ungraspable human destinies and uncovered the life-world of the occupation,” according to the Nobel Prize’s website.
The Nazi occupation was a frequent theme in the 69-year-old author’s work. His father met his mother during the occupation of Paris, and he was born shortly after World War II ended.
