The tech giant posted a video of the footage online, giving fans a chance to see the rolling sand dunes up close and personal.

“It collects imagery which are then put together to create that panoramic experience,” Susan Cadrecha, who works with Google’s Street View and Maps department, told ABC News Wednesday.

Attaching the camera to a camel instead of a car “allowed us to minimize our disruption of the environment,” she said.

Google launched the Street View program in 2007 to let people across the world explore different cities from the comfort of their computers.

“Hopefully, people will be inspired to view this place on Google Maps and visit it in person as well,” Cadrecha said.
