(POCATELLO, ID) – The executive director of the Pocatello Housing Authority wants to help more people find affordable housing.

Sunny Shaw tells Local News 8 that she’s been busy finding subsidized housing for those who need it, with families finding new homes almost every other day.

Shaw says it’s unfair and discriminatory to require those receiving public assistance to submit to a drug test, since many of those needing help, especially the elderly, aren’t substance abusers.

She says it’s important for people to remember that living in poverty is not a choice.
