Despite U.S. airstrikes around the town that borders Turkey, ISIS fighters have reportedly moved deeper into Kobani.

In Washington, Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby noted that U.S. air power may not be enough to fend off ISIS militants.

Meanwhile, fears are growing that the Sunni extremists will begin slaughtering civilians who’ve remained behind in the mostly Kurdish town.

Turkey, which recently joined an international coalition to repel the ISIS advance, has done little so far to assist in the effort to save Kobani.

Kurds in Turkey say they’re willing to join the fight but the government has been reluctant to allow it, fearing that they will also be helping the Kurdish terrorist group, the PKK.

Ankara has also been backing off from the battle against ISIS, saying the U.S. should be more concerned with overthrowing the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
