For the singer, the experience was nothing short of “magical.”

“In Berlin I had a show and The Hunger Games was shooting just across the road,” she told Billboard. “A bunch of their people came over [to my show] — Woody [Harrelson] was at the show being dragged away, because it was time to shoot. [And] we went to the set, which was so amazing for me.”

“I’ve never been to a film set before,” she added. “And just seeing, like, you know, everyone has a place, everything is so perfectly timed and…they call action and it’s just all on. It’s like, so magical. That was really fun.”

The Mockingjay soundtrack is a blend of pop and R&B artists such as Charli XCX, Tove Lo, Miguel and Tinashé; British left-of-center acts like Bat for Lashes and The Chemical Brothers; rappers like Pusha T, Q-Tip and Kanye West; and ’80s icons like Duran Duran frontman Simon LeBon and model/actress Grace Jones, who is one of Lorde’s all-time idols. Lorde says she personally reached out to all of them to invite them to participate.

“It was really important to me, with the soundtrack, that people knew how involved I was, and a lot of that was me reaching out to people really directly, having a conversation on the phone, sending an email, sending a text, because I wanted people to know that, ‘Your song isn’t just going to be flung into some pot and, you know, chosen later,'” she explained. “I really cared about what was happening.”

Reaching out directly, Lorde added, led to “some crazy experiences, like calling Grace Jones on the phone. She’s like, ‘I’m in the spa, give me a second.’ I’m like, ‘Of course, you’re Grace Jones. …I’ll wait!'”

One person who can’t wait to hear the Mockingjay soundtrack when it arrive November 17 is actress Willow Shields, who plays Katniss Everdeen’s sister Primrose.

“Oh my God, I’m extremely excited,” she told ABC News about the soundtrack. “I mean, I’m a huge fan of Lorde to begin with, and the fact that she’s curating the soundtrack makes me so excited, because she also has just a great sense of who she loves as artists…so she’s gonna get a lot of great people on that soundtrack.”

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 arrives in theaters November 21.
