Yousafzai, the youngest ever Nobel laureate, shares the honor with Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian anti-child-labor activist who has contributed to the development of “important international conventions on children’s rights,” the organization said Friday.

Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi both have taken active roles in the “struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education,” which has contributed, the organization said, “to the realization of the ‘fraternity between nations’ that Alfred Nobel mentions in his will as one of the criteria for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
