Markets Mostly Level, Pending Home Sales Rise Slightly

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street rallied from early losses to post closing figures very near where they opened on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 12.53, finishing the day at 16,817.94.
The Nasdaq picked up 2.21, closing at 4,485.93, while the S&P 500 slipped 2.95, ending Monday at 1,961.63, within shouting distance of the 2,000 milestone it surpassed for the first time earlier this year.
The National Association of Realtors said Monday that pending home sales rose very slightly, 0.3 percent, in September. The NAR’s chief economist Lawrence Yun said in a release posted to their website that the supply of existing homes was six percent higher in September, “preventing prices from rising at the accelerated clip seen earlier this year.”
