Markets Post More Losses as October Slide Continues

tarabird/iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — After a strong day of gains on Friday, the markets began the new week on a downward slide Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 17.72 to fall back below 17,000, finishing the day at 16,991.97.
The Nasdaq closed at 4,454.80, a slide of 20.82 from Monday’s open, while the S&P 500 dipped 3.06 to 1,964.84.
Over the weekend, General Motors announced additional recalls, bringing the total number of cars under recall to nearly 30 million worldwide.
