Baltimore struck first on Sunday when Nelson Cruz’s two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning off of David Price gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers would fight in the bottom of the ninth when J.D. Martinez hit a RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning off Zach Britton, but Britton then got pinch hitter Hernan Perez to ground into a double play to end the game.

Baltimore completed a 3-0 Division Series sweep and they’ll wait on the winner of Kansas City and the Angels series.

Cruz’s homer in the sixth was his 16th postseason dinger, which passed Babe Ruth on the all-time list.

Bud Norris pitched 6.1 and allowed two hits and struck out six for the victory.

Tigers starter David Price, who came over in a trade during the summer, threw 112 pitches in eight innings of work with six strike outs and gave up the two-run homer to Cruz in the sixth.

This is Baltimore’s first trip to the ALCS since 1997.
