Pilot Dead After ‘Homemade’ Plane Crashes in Australia Neighborhood
Published at(MELBOURNE, Australia) — A small plane crashed into a residential area in Australia Tuesday, killing its male pilot and injuring at least one person on the ground, police said.
The accident happened in the Chelsea area of Melbourne.
The small plane — police suspect it was homemade — struck a house and damaged two vehicles, with the plane likely bursting into flames upon impact, police said. Heavy smoke was visible in the area following the crash.

A woman inside the home sustained minor injuries, police said.
Police believe the crash occurred after the plane’s engine stalled.
