POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) – Work on the $12.5 million, 78-acre Portneuf Wellness Complex intended to improve the health of southeast Idaho residents by providing physical activities is advancing.

The Idaho State Journal  reports that the Portneuf Health Care Foundation is paying for the project that’s scheduled to be finished by next fall.

The complex will have seven multi-use athletic fields, four sand volleyball courts and three basketball courts.

There will also be miles of paved walkways, an amphitheater for 11,000 people and a 6.35-acre urban fishing pond with a beach and swimming area.

President and CEO of the Portneuf Health Care Foundation Shaun Menchaca on a tour of the area Thursday said the big amphitheater will help attract well-known musical performers.
