Redbox Instant Streaming Service to Shut Down Tuesday
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Redbox Instant, a program that aimed to be a competitor to Netflix, will cease operation on Tuesday, Redbox said.
In a message to customers posted on the Redbox site, the end of the service was announced as Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Customers, the message said, will receive information on applicable refunds.
Until the cutoff time, customers should still be able to utilize Redbox Instant.
Redbox’s streaming service launched in 2013 and was powered by Verizon. Users paid $6 per month, according to Time magazine, and an extra $2 if they wanted to rent up to four DVDs.
