In 70 games with the Senators last season, Ryan had 23 goals and 25 assists. He missed the last 12 games of the season because of a sports hernia.

Ryan was originally selected with the second overall pick in the 2005 NHL draft by Anaheim. In six seasons with the Ducks, Ryan had 147 points and 142 assists. The Senators acquired him via trade on July 5, 2013 for Jakob Silfverberg, Stefan Noesen and a draft pick.
