Stamkos Hat Trick Leads Rout of Canadiens

Len Redkoles/NHLI via Getty Images(TAMPA BAY, FL) — Steven Stamkos led an offensive onslaught over the Montreal Canadiens that spearheaded a 7-1 Tampa Bay Lightning win at Amalie Arena.
Stamkos recorded a hat trick, the eighth of his career. His third goal came with 1:46 remaining in the second period, when he fired a shot from the right circle that gave the Lightning a 4-1 lead.
“I’ve learned over the years that if you stick with it, usually the floodgates open,” Stamkos said.
Stamkos is now tied with Martin St. Louis for franchise record in hat tricks.
The Lightning are 2-0-1 on the season.
