Tis the Season to Get Upset with Early Holiday Decor

getty 102814 holidaydecor?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1414503986992iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — It’s that time of year again for stores and we don’t mean Halloween. Most retailers have moved beyond Oct. 31, even though it’s this Friday, to prepare for the biggest shopping period of the year.

And while no one can really fault the retail industry for wanting to get a jump on the holiday season, consumers aren’t exactly enamored with seeing Christmas decorations and the like already filling up space in stores.

In fact, the data firm Rich Relevance finds that 71 percent of adults in the U.S. say it makes them “annoyed or very annoyed” to come across holiday items before Halloween is over.

The survey says it’s people between the ages of 45 and 60, spanning both Generation X and Baby Boomers, most bothered by this trend.

However, millennials are a bit more accepting of an early Christmas in stores with 59 percent expressing some form of annoyance at premature marketing.
