Amukamara had to leave the game in the second quarter of the team’s loss against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night.

“Normally that’s surgery,” Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said.

“There is a lot of concern,” Coughlin continued. “We’ve lost a player or two in each game, it seems like. That’s not a good one. Prince was playing well. He did a very nice job tonight, and that was a blow to lose him.”

Now in his fourth NFL season, Amukamara was playing some of the best football of his career this season prior to the injury. In eight games this season, Amukamara has 45 tackles and three interceptions.

With the Giants defense already among the NFL’s worst, this is a big loss for the team. The Giants are tied for 20th in the NFL in total defense, while ranking 28th in the league in pass defense.
