Is Kathy Griffin Out of the Running to Replace Joan Rivers on “Fashion Police?”

Kevin Winter/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Kathy Griffin revealed in an interview with Access Hollywood last week that she was a candidate to replace the late Joan Rivers on the E! show Fashion Police. However, that may no longer be the case.
TheWrap.com reports Griffin may be out of the running. Its source says, “She was tested and tested poorly because she was too close to Joan’s comedic sensibility.”
E! denied to the website that Griffin was the subject of focus group testing.
The comedienne had told Access Hollywood that she was offered the role, but, she added, “I don’t know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time but I will say, whatever they do, I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan’s work.”
TheWrap.com further reports that Tyra Banks is in the mix as a potential candidate, joining a list that also includes reality star NeNe Leakes.
Fashion Police is scheduled to return in January with coverage of the Golden Globes.
