Jackson Airport Seeks to Double Fuel Capacity

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) – Officials at Wyoming’s busiest airport are working to double the amount of jet fuel that can be stored there.
Jackson Hole Airport Director Jim Elwood says airlines want between five and seven days of inventory fuel. The airport board is looking at spending $1.5 million to replace existing fuel tanks at the airport and boost the total storage capacity from 76,000 to 152,000 gallons of fuel.
The board agreed recently to have an engineering firm draft plans and put the project up for bid. The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports a construction contract could be issued as early as January.
The airport is located just north of Jackson in the southern part of Grand Teton National Park. It is the only commercial airport located within a national park.
