Lakers Pick Up First Win of the Season

NBA via Los Angeles Lakers(LOS ANGELES) — The wait is finally over. The Los Angeles Lakers won their first game of the season on Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets.
The Lakers had been 0-5, the worst start in the team’s Kobe Bryant-era. The team also avoided losing six straight to open a season for the first time since 1957-58, when the team played in Minneapolis.
“We got to start somewhere,” Bryant said after the win.
Bryant and Jeremy Lin led the way for the Lakers as they each scored 21 points. Carlos Boozer also chipped in 16 points.
“Guys weren’t just looking to get the ball to Kobe and step out of the way,” Lakers head coach Byron Scott said of the win. “I talked to Jeremy before the game about being more assertive on both ends of the floor.”
After their win on Sunday, the Philadelphia 76ers find themselves as the only winless team left in the NBA. On Sunday, they lost to the Toronto Raptors and fell to 0-7 in the season.
