Looking for the Cheapest iPhone 6? Come to Russia

Apple(MOSCOW) — Back in September, Russians were shelling out thousands of dollars to get Apple’s new iPhone 6 on the day it came out in the U.S.
Even when it was finally available in Russia a week later, the 31,990 ruble price tag was much higher than the $650 (minus tax) it cost to buy an unlocked 16 GB version of the smartphone in the U.S.
But now, thanks to the ruble’s nosedive, shoppers can actually get an iPhone 6 in Russia for less than in the U.S. or elsewhere in Europe.
While the price tag remains the same in rubles, given today’s exchange rate of 46.2 rubles to the dollar, the 16 GB model of the phone costs $684 with taxes. In New York City, meanwhile, it would cost over $700 when you factor in taxes.
Last Friday, when the ruble peaked at a low of 48.6 to the dollar, the price was as low as $658.23 including taxes.
