Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, McConaughey said he never thought he’d be an actor. “Shoot, I only saw two or three films before I was 18 years old. And I got my first job in Austin, Texas, on a film called Dazed and Confused,” he explained. “Yeah, I got my first job there. Little did I know it’d turn out to be a career.”

“This industry has given me a lot. It’s given me a chance to live out some dreams I didn’t even know I had,” McConaughey added.

The 45-year-old actor was joined by his Interstellar co-stars Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain, as well his wife Camila Alves and their three children.

McConaughey told those in attendance that he wants Hollywood to continue making great films.

“Let’s keep telling great stories. Let’s keep entertaining, you know. Let’s keep putting stuff up there that matters. Let’s keep putting stuff up there that is original. Let’s keep putting stuff up there that’s just plain fun,” he said.
