McDonald’s Recalls Hello Kitty Happy Meal Toys
Published at | Updated at(WASHINGTON) — McDonald’s is recalling more than two million Happy Meal toys over a choking hazard.
The toy in question is a Hello Kitty whistle that was distributed at the fast food chain’s restaurants from October through the first week of November. Approximately 2.3 million were handed out to kids in the U.S., while another 200,000 were distributed in Canada.
“Components inside of the whistle can detach, posing choking and aspiration hazards to young children,” the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says on its website.
So far, McDonald’s is aware of two incidents in which kids have coughed out pieces of the whistle that they had sucked into their mouths. One child had to receive medical attention.
Parents are advised to take the toys away from their children and return it to any McDonald’s restaurant, where they will receive a new, free toy and a yogurt tube or bag of apple slices.
