POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) – Pocatello officials say they’re concerned that campus security officers at Idaho State University may be overstepping their authority.

The Idaho State Journal reports that the concerns stem from several instances, including one in September, when security guards delayed calling Pocatello police about an accidental shooting in a lecture hall and cleaned up evidence before police officers arrived.

On other occasions, the city says, campus security administered an alcohol breath-test on a driver before calling police and seized marijuana from a dorm room without notifying police for three days.

The mayor, police chief and head of campus security plan to meet Friday to discuss the issue.
