LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) – A 14-year-old northern Idaho boy has been taken into custody after police say he entered an unlocked home in Lewiston and hit a woman watching TV with a 6-pound river rock in the back of the head.

Police say the 57-year-old woman was knocked out by the blow at about 8 p.m. on Thursday but regained consciousness a short time later.

Police tell the Lewiston Tribune that officers spotted the boy on a balcony outside the home and arrested him after he ran into some brush.

He was taken to the Region II Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of felony aggravated assault and burglary.
