Irek Ilgiz Hamidullin was indicted on terrorism charges, including conspiring to provide and providing material support to terrorists, conspiring and attempting to destroy an aircraft of the armed forces of the United States, and conspiring and attempting to murder a national of the United States in October. Hamidullin faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.

The charging document was unsealed on Tuesday.

The Department of Justice says that Hamidullin was taken into custody in November 2009. He was turned over to the FBI on Nov. 3 and brought to the U.S. to face charges.
