Despite numerous website issues, more than 10 million people signed up for healthcare online last year. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, had projected the number of Americans signed up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act would reach about 13 million by the end of 2015. The Department of Health and Human Services, however, has the number in the range of nine to 9.9 million.

The CEO of Healthcare.gov, Kevin Counihan, told ABC News that those Americans who are renewing their coverage will have an easy time doing so. “For people renewing coverage…90 percent of their basic enrollment information will be pre-populated,” he said.

In his weekly address, President Obama said that his administration had spent the last year “improving and upgrading” the website, making it “faster and easier to use.”

For those Americans who act by Dec. 15, new or changed coverage can begin as soon as Jan. 1.
