Snow King Looks to Add Coaster

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) – Snow King Ski Resort is looking to install an alpine coaster to give tourists and recreation enthusiasts another way down the mountain.
Coasters are gravity powered rides where people can zip down a mountain on curved, twisting tracks all year long.
The Jackson Town Council decided Monday that a coaster proposed by Snow King investors needs to be reviewed only by town staff, a process that could take as few as 30 days.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports that town councilors said the coaster would help provide a stable source of revenue for the floundering ski area.
The coaster is proposed for private land owned by the ski area, rather than public land leased from the town or the U.S. Forest Service.
