Stocks Pause on Friday After Days of Record Finishes
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Stocks didn’t move much on Friday, taking a pause after record finishes in six of the last seven trading days.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 18.05 points ending the day at 17,634.74. The Nasdaq gained 8.4 points closing at 4,688.54, and the S&P 500 went up 0.49 to 2,039.82.
Overall, the major averages were up for the fourth straight week.
Retail sales were up last month, which is encouraging news for retailers as we move into the holiday shopping season.
Microsoft has surpassed Exxon to become the second-most valuable company in the world. Exxon’s shares have been falling recently, along with the price of oil, while Microsoft’s shares have been rising since last month.
Apple is till the world’s most valuable company.
