A survey of 1,050 adults 18 and older by Russell Research says that close to eight in ten have started shopping and 20 percent actually began even before September rolled around.

Men apparently don’t see the same urgency as women as one in seven will kick off their holiday buying on Cyber Monday, Dec. 1.

Meanwhile, just over four out of five Americans will wind up at the mall this season with half the mall visitors doing at least some shopping there.

Nine out of 10 millenials, the youngest generation of adults, plan to mall shop.

The Russell Research survey also points out that 50 percent of Americans will do some form of shopping on Black Friday, Nov. 28 and of that group, 84 percent will shop in traditional brick and mortar stores.

As for stores throwing opening their doors open on Thanksgiving, retailers may know what they’re doing with 21 percent claiming they’ll shop on Turkey Day.
