Watson’s bunker shot on the 18th was remarkable. It looked like the two-time Masters champion was just playing out his round but instead he smashed the ball out of the bunker and then watched it roll about 25 feet before dropping in the cup, sending him into a playoff. Watson immediately began to scream.

“You always joke about holing it,” Watson said. “And then it actually went in. I didn’t know how to react and so I just kind of screamed, and I lost my voice a little bit. It was one of those shots, a one-in-a-lifetime kind of shot. And so it was pretty neat.”

Watson earned his first World Golf Championship on the first hole of the playoff when he drilled a 20-foot putt to beat Clark.

Watson is now the 14th player to have won a major and a World Golf Championship event.
