Al-Qaeda Leader Killed in Military Operation in Pakistan

zabelin/iStock/Thinkstock(ISLAMABAD, Pakistan) — An al-Qaeda leader wanted by the U.S. government for plots against the New York City subway system was killed in a military operation on Saturday.
A military official confirmed to ABC News that Adnan Shukarijuma was killed in South Waziristan. The Pakistani military led the operation.
Shukarijuma was on the FBI’s list of most wanted terrorists. He had allegedly been involved in terrorist plots to attack targets in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. He is believed to have served as one of the leaders of al-Qaeda’s external operations program.
The FBI had offered a reward of up to $5 million for information that led to the capture of Shukarijuma.
