“Angry Birds” Celebrates Fifth Birthday
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — One of the most popular video games in America is marking a major milestone on Thursday.
Angry Birds is celebrating its fifth birthday — or “BirdDay” as they call it — which amazes creator Peter Vesterbacka.
“It’s been far, far beyond our expectations,” Vesterbacka says.
But he admits it’s been no overnight success. “We’ve been making games since 2003, and this is our 52nd game,” he notes.
Vesterbacka says the secret to the game’s success boils down to a simple equation: “People love the birds and love to hate the pigs.”
Rovio Entertainment, the developer behind Angry Birds, is celebrating the milestone with a custom edition featuring levels inspired by fan suggestions.
