Here are the top five:

Clothing

Of all post-holiday sales, 45 percent are clothing related. To get the best possible sales prices, stack the offers by looking in the clearance section plus using the store-wide blanket discount.

For example, Banana Republic has tons of markdowns and then offers another 50 percent off on top of that, and Macy’s has their doorbusters live until 2 p.m., including 60 percent off Carter’s for Kids and an extra 25 percent off boots and shoes.

Technology

After clothing, tech items offer the most discounts. There were all-time low prices on many gadgets before Thanksgiving, “but a lot of these Black Friday electronic sales will resurface in December,” DealNews.com editor Mark Locastro said on ABC’s Good Morning America.

A fully-loaded Apple Mac laptop is cheaper than it was around Thanksgiving and the Samsung tablet is at its lowest price all year.

Luxury

Luxury sales can be “kind of rare because these luxury brands don’t really get into the sales mix too often,” according to Locastro. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be had.

Burberry has 50 percent off a large selection of items and Saks Off 5th cuts an extra 40 to 50 percent of clothing with a code.

Outlets

Outlets not only have brand names and low prices, but they also have better tax discounts.

One 7 For All Mankind is offering half off the entire store and another Levi’s outlet is discounting 50 percent off all jeans.

Beauty

If you have the “new year, new you” attitude, there are plenty of beauty discounts out there.

Sephora has an extra 20 percent off sale items plus free samples and Bath & Body Works has slashed prices plus another 20 percent off with a code.

Bonus Tip

When you’re in a store, let it compete against itself by checking prices online. If they’re better there, “just simply ask that sales associate if they can match the deals and the sales that are happening online,” Locastro recommended.
