The bureau told ABC News that they processed 175,754 background checks for gun purchases on Black Friday. That figure is second only to Dec. 21, 2012, when 177,170 such background checks were run.
FBI Spokesman Stephen G. Fischer said that nearly 75 percent of background checks on Friday were run through E-Check, a secure Internet connection.
