Former NFL Player Sharper Indicted for Rape
Published at(NEW ORLEANS) — Former New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings safety Darren Sharper was indicted Friday on multiple counts of rape in New Orleans.
Sharper, 39, is accused of two counts of aggravated rape for assaulting and impairing two women in September 2013 according to District attorney spokesman Christopher Bowman.
If convicted in Louisiana for aggravated rape, he could face life without parole.
Since Feb. 27, Sharper has been jailed in a California prison awaiting a hearing for charges that he drugged and raped two women in Los Angeles.
In all, Sharper faces charges and allegations in Arizona, Florida, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New Orleans for raping, drugging and/or sexually assaulting at least seven women.
Sharper had been an analyst at the NFL Network since 2010 after he retired, but was soon fired after the allegations surfaced.
