Iraq Suicide Attack Kills 40 Anti-ISIS Fighters, Injures 56 More
Published at(MADAEN, Iraq) — A suicide attack in Iraq on Wednesday left 40 dead and 56 injured, Iraqi police said.
A statement from U.S. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said that the attack killed a number of anti-ISIS fighters who had gathered to receive their government salaries. The U.S. condemned the attack.
“As Iraqis unite against [ISIS] and turn the tide on the battlefield,” Psaki said, “[ISIS] will continue to resort to such vicious and desperate acts as cowardly suicide attacks and other atrocities to try to maintain its reign of fear.”
