“Selma,” “Scandal” and “Black-ish,” Earn NAACP Image Awards Nominations

selma1?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1418212582710Paramount(NEW YORK) — The NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced Tuesday, and Selma and Scandal are among the top contenders.

The Martin Luther King Jr. film Selma scored eight nods, including outstanding motion picture and outstanding actor in a motion picture for David Oyelowo. The James Brown biopic Get On Up, starring Chadwick Boseman, and the period piece Belle, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, each received five nominations.

In the TV categories, Scandal, Black-ish and Orange Is the New Black all nabbed six nominations each. How to Get Away with Murder landed five nominations, including one for its star Viola Davis.

Pharrell Williams and Beyonce were the top musical contenders, with four nominations each, including nods in the outstanding album category.

The 46th annual NAACP Image Awards will take place on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, and will air on TV One.
