Taylor Swift Turns 25 with Epic Party

Larry Busacca/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — What happens when one of the world’s biggest pop stars turns 25? She hosts one of the most epic, star-studded parties on record, and attracts birthday tributes from seemingly the entire world.
Taylor Swift kicked off her birthday celebration Friday night onstage in New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and then — as the calendar turned to Dec. 13, her actual birthday — proceeded to party with the likes of Sam Smith, Beyonce, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Lena Dunham and her boyfriend, fun.’s Jack Antonoff, Nick Jonas, Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez, Charli XCX and — according to E! Online — model Chrissy Teigen, Iggy Azalea, Jamie King, actor Ansel Elgort, the sister group HAIM and the band 5 Seconds of Summer.
According to E!, the bash, at Swift’s New York City apartment, raged on past 5 a.m. and the menu apparently included pizza, since three guys were seen delivering about 40 pies.
Swift posted a photo of the gift that Dunham gave her: a necklace featuring a portrait of her cat. She captioned it, “my new most cherished possession.”
Meanwhile, fans, media outlets and other celebs spent all day tweeting congratulations to the birthday girl. Swift’s BFF Lorde couldn’t make the celebration since she was home in New Zealand, but posted a touching tribute on Tumblr to the woman she calls her “sister.”
“Today one of my sisters turns 25. sure, she isn’t a reeeal sister, and i haven’t known her thaaat long, but it feels like forever,” Lorde wrote. “Together, we’ve navigated our respective crazy years in work (her cheering me on as i went to my first award shows, did my first rolling stone cover, wrote for my first movie; me cheering her on as she became a pop titan and conquered the world for what felt like the thousandth time), in love, in friendship, and in growing up.”
“i feel so lucky being part of this amazing circle of girls who are there for each other, dancing without inhibition, laughing for hours, and killing it at work, and we’re pretty much all here ‘cause of her,” Lorde added. “What i’m trying to say is, she’s magic. it makes me all blushy knowing she’s got my back. and from the other side of the world, i’m thinking of her on her special day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAY. IIIIII ADORE YOOOU.”
Swift tweeted just before midnight on Saturday, “I just want to thank anyone who wished me happiness today. You’re my friend.” Referring to additional photos she posted of the party, she continued, “These are my friends. And I’m so lucky.”
