Teen Boy Killed Riding Skateboard in Boise

BOISE, Idaho (AP) – A teenage boy who had been riding his skateboard on a sidewalk in downtown Boise is dead after a collision with a pickup.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the truck, driven by a 43-year-old Boise man, was leaving a parking garage Saturday when it struck the 14-year-old. Police say witnesses reported differing accounts as to whether the boy was riding his skateboard or whether he had bent over to pick it up.

Police say the boy was conscious after the collision and immediately jumped up. An off-duty firefighter who was nearby gave the teen immediate medical attention until paramedics arrived to take him to a hospital, where he died.

Officers say there is no evidence alcohol or drugs were involved.
