Texans Dominate Titans
Published at(HOUSTON, Tx.) — Ryan Fitzpatrick returned as the starting quarterback for the Texans Sunday, when Houston hosted the Tennessee Titans.
He took out his frustrations of being benched on the Titans, as he threw for six touchdowns in the Texans’ 45-21 victory. Fitzpatrick finished the day completing 24 of 33 passes for 358 yards.
“I didn’t know if I’d ever have a chance to play again,” Fitzpatrick said. “It was eye-opening for me not to take it for granted and to embrace it.”
Fitzpatrick had been benched for poor performance two weeks ago in favor of Ryan Mallett. He returned to the starting lineup after Mallett was placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle.
DeAndre Hopkins was his prime target as he reeled in nine catches for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Another touchdown pass went to defensive end J.J. Watt. Watt now has five touchdowns on the season. This was his third receiving score on the season to go with two defensive touchdowns (one fumble return, one interception return).
The Texans move to 6-6 and travel to face the Jaguars next weekend.
